Suppose I finish the game with the specifications and am not able to complete it in the least time,then all my time would go waste...
Contest should be such that all those who participate will get something or the other...
For eg, ranks for the 1st 2nd 3rd and also consolation ranks,so that everyone got something..
In this way,everyone would be willing to participate with the hope of getting something,not returning EMPTY-HANDED after so much effort and time....

@Max: all participants gets a badge of contestant, and winner and runner up gets exp. Points.. Also be a little confident, if everyone feels he/she will loose, no one will play..

Don't view them from that angle...
Give something (some pokerank or person rank for the various winners,not points)(of course badges are there for the participants)so that people would remember having taking part in the contest and having done something...
